CHP hosts 2nd CHEPSAA meeting

CHEPSAA held its 2nd annual workshop from 19-23 March 2012 in Johannesburg with 25 delegates from seven universities in Africa and four European institutions.
This five-day workshop served to strengthen the Consortium’s mission of building the field of health policy and systems research through sessions which promoted a common understanding of this research field, a collective vision and opportunities for capacity building. The meeting was also important for establishing detailed plans on the Consortium’s activities and deliverables, and for boosting CHEPSAA as a collective.
The South African partners are the School of Public health and Family Medicine at theUniversity of Cape Town, the School of Public Health at theUniversity of the Western Cape, and the Centre for Health Policy at theUniversity of the Witwatersrand. African collaborators include the Institute of Development Studies at the University of Dar es Salaam (Tanzania); the School of Public Health at theUniversity of Ghana(Ghana); the Tropical Institute of Community Health at theGreat Lakes University of Kisumu(Kenya); and the College of Medicine at theUniversity of Nigeria Enugu(Nigeria). Collaborators from Europe are theLondon School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine(UK); the Nuffield Centre for International Health and Development at theUniversity of Leeds(UK);the Karolinska Institutet(Sweden), and the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute at theUniversity of Basel(Switzerland).
