The nursing cohort study held two dissemination meetings in North West and Gauteng provinces which were attended by approximately 72 provincial officials and policymakers. These meetings brought together in one room representatives from the national and provincial department of health, academics from nursing colleges and universities, trade unions, the South African Nursing Council and health facilities. Attendees engaged in robust debates that were provoked by the key findings.
As a way of retaining cohort members in the study, several feedback meetings were held. Approximately 60 cohort members attended two of these meeting which took place in Mafikeng and Johannesburg. These meetings created a platform for researchers in this project to share the key results of the study and also provided an opportunity for cohort members to connect with old friends and fellow students from college / university thus enhancing their group identity within the cohort.
