UNLEASH is a new, global initiative that will bring together 1000 young talents: academicians, intrapreneurs, entrepreneurs and tech experts annually. Each year, they will be tasked with developing innovative and practical solutions to the UN 17 Sustainable Development Goals. I participated in the first UNLEASH Lab that took place between 13th and 21st August in Demark. As talents, we worked in teams and were taken through an innovative process of co-creating solutions. After the Lab, we became part of a global support system to secure implementation. UNLEASH Lab 2017 worked with seven themes that relate to the SDGs: Education and ICT, Energy, Health, Food, Sustainable Consumption and production, Urban Sustainability and Water. Working within the Health theme, I participated in a sub theme on Access to Healthcare, focusing on physical, system, financial, social/cultural barriers to accessing primary health care services. This experience was ideal in relating evidence from my research work in primary health care settings and what would be workable solutions in promoting access to primary health care services in LMICs.
