International And Interdisciplinary Research School

Thanduxolo Fana (Thando) attended an International and Interdisciplinary Research School that was held in Accra and Busua (Ghana) from the 14th January to 2nd February 2019. The Research School is a joint program of Institute for Statistical Social and Economic Research at the University of Ghana and Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany that is sponsored by the Volkswagen Foundation. The International Interdisciplinary Research School was aimed at bringing together and providing a platform for sharing of knowledge and stimulation of discussion among scholars from different discipline in the Sub-Saharan Africa. It was also aimed at providing extensive research training and support, mentorship, networking and building prospects for future research collaboration. The first two weeks participants attended courses, and on the third week was presentation.


I presented my intended research project, which is titled “Governance and management of public hospitals in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa”. On 11th – 18th January 2020, I will be attending a workshop in Ghana, Busua to present the findings from the intended research project, and afterwards receive funding to present the work at International Conferences and workshops.
